Becoming a mother, appreciating my mother...

Today was a difficult day. I took my Mother to the airport. She and I have spent the past five, almost six weeks together. Our time together made me realize how becoming a Mother has made me love and appreciate my Mother so much more, in a way I never knew was possible. I have always thought my Mother was the best. She exudes a love and kindness like no other person I know.

Since becoming a Mother, she has provided me with endless amounts of advice, and words of encouragement. The time she spent with Henry made me not only realize how lucky I am to have her in my life, but how lucky Henry is to have her as a grandmother.

It's days like today when I wish we did not live so far away from family. Our next planned visit is not until October, (even though I told her she and Dad can visit anytime they want). For now, it's FaceTime chats, phone calls, and countdowns until she and Dad can spend time with us again.

I love you, Mom!

Memories...

Years down the road, memories can be relived not only through storytelling, but also through pictures. I  love taking pictures, and capturing memories.  Recently, we received our maternity and Henry newborn pictures. I waited a very long time to receive the pictures, and when I did, I was thrilled with how well they turned out, and so happy to have the pictures to remember just how tiny Henry was.

The unexpected road trip...

My parents had their car packed, they were ready to begin their drive back to Indiana. Ryan, Henry, and I were seeing them off. At one point, someone mentioned there was room in the car for Henry and me. The wheels (in my brain) started turning, as the wheels on their car drove away. A few minutes later, a few phone calls, and the decision was made. Henry and I were off to Indiana!

My Dad thought it was important to pack Henry's sunglasses and sun hat. Both would be needed when helping Grandpa mow the lawn.

Henry is an awesome traveller (thank goodness). He was awesome the entire time in the car, watching the trees go by, and taking numerous naps.

Made it to Indiana, and loving snuggles and snoozes with Grandma.

Never too young to be introduced to Oreos.

My Dad is really loving this Grandpa thing...

This melts my heart.

Our time in Indiana came to an end. It was time for Henry's first flight!
I took care of handling all the luggage and baby gear through security.
Grandma escorted Henry through security.

Henry was trying to convince Grandma that everything was going to be okay, no reason to be nervous on the plane.

Henry was enjoying the airplane peanuts and pretzels.

When we landed in New Orleans, some people were surprised to see there was a baby on board. He slept the entire way! One man even said we owed Henry a beer. :)

Back in Louisiana, and all smiles.
