First Weekend in London...

We are experiencing our first rainy day in Great Britain, what will most likely, but hopefully not, our first of many. Henry was not a fan of being stuck in the apartment all morning, but I think I wore him out with lots of playing, and exploring our little apartment. For now, he naps, and I can fill you in on our first weekend in London...

Henry and I arrived Friday morning. After two flights (New Orleans to Houston, Houston to London), 14 hours of travel, and one very long nine hour flight, we arrived alive, in good spirits, and very thankful to see Ryan. Gone are the good old days of getting on a long, international flight, selecting a movie, having a bite to eat, taking a sleeping pill and waking in a new country. International flights with a baby needs a team. I felt like a pack mule carrying all the baby gear, I felt like a crazy lady trying to keep Henry entertained in a one foot square area of space. When I was finally able to get him to sleep, I felt like a statue, sitting very still, not able to sleep, and thankful for every minute that passed and Henry continued to sleep. Sleep he did, for about 4-5 hours. I think I may have caught about an hour of sleep. But it didn't matter, we were in London, and ready to explore!

We went straight from the airport to our apartment. Henry had a good nap, I had a shower, we were ready to start our day. It felt strange to have been awake for so long, travelled so far, and it was still only 9:00 a.m. We pulled ourselves together and took the train to London.

Our first stop, and a congratulations souvenir for making it to London. Burberry flagship store on Regent Street.

Saturday, we decided to visit Windsor, and Windsor Castle. Another beautiful weather day, the sun was shining and Ryan was driving! Since we would be staying for an extended time, he decided to rent a car. We decided to drive to Windsor rather than take the train. It was a beautiful drive, and Ryan's European driving is excellent. No chance you will find me behind the wheel!

Sunday, we decided to head back to London. Henry was taught to "Mind the gap"

We took a Thames River Cruise to Greenwich, our goal was to visit the Prime Meridian. After spending some relaxing time in Greenwich, it was back to the city for some more sightseeing and a dinner of fish and chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

Henry has done an excellent job adjusting to the time difference and the hectic sightseeing schedule. The weekend was busy, and our upcoming weekend will also be busy. The weekdays will be focused on giving Henry time to relax, play, and get some good naps in. He is enjoying his walks around the city. People here are loving Henry and all his smiles. They are especially fond of his name. And of course, Henry is loving all the attention.

Work is going well for Ryan. He is enjoying having his family here. Ryan and I are both readjusting to life outside America. Long gone are our large, comfy bed, huge bathroom, and ample storage space. We have found ourselves joking about being back in our Russian apartment. All is well, we are loving the experience.

The rain is still falling, hopefully it will end soon so Henry and I can get outside today. For now, he naps, resting up for our upcoming weekend in Paris! If you wish to see the other photos taken during our weekend adventures, click on the link below:
