A Much Needed Update....

Sadly,  it has been one month since I last posted.  My apologies.  Good thing I didn't make more frequent blog posts a new years resolution.  Actually, I didn't make any resolutions, but that's beside the point.

This blog is in dire need of an update.  Macy and I have been back in the States since December 16th, Ryan arrived on the 22nd (he has already left the States, for training in Aberdeen).  We greatly enjoyed time with our families during the holidays.  Ryan and I spent Christmas apart, but it was the only way we could both spend Christmas time with our family.

After Christmas, Ryan and I left for Utah.  Ryan was excited for some much needed snowboarding time.  I, on the other hand, was a bit hesitant for our trip to Utah, I was going to attempt snowboarding, for the first time.

A short recap of our time together in Utah:

Our friends, Brad and Linda showed us around Salt Lake City.

Temple Square, Salt Lake City

The lights were absolutely beautiful and bountiful.  Every tree branch was meticulously wrapped.

I wish my camera skills were better.

Brad and two of his children also joined us for our first day of snowboarding.  I was sent off to "Adult Very First Time" lessons and the others hit the slopes.  We met up for lunch and all were pleasantly surprised that I was still smiling and not threatening to beat Ryan.  I did enjoy snowboarding, I wish I didn't fall so much, but it is expected for the first time.  After lunch, Ryan was brave and took me on a couple runs.  He bought new goggles with a built in camera and video, so he caught some good video clips.  I will need to seek his assistance in posting the videos, but it is excellent proof that I actually boarded.
Waiting to board the lift.  The first day, I fell every time getting off the lift, but luckily the second day, I mastered disembarking.

The weather was actually fairly warm, which made for a much more enjoyable experience.  I did not freeze. Sadly, there was not a ton of snow.  Ryan was bummed by the lack of snow, me too.  Actually, I was more upset by the lack of snow every time I fell.  My butt would have appreciated much more powder.  All in all, when it comes to snowboarding, I enjoyed it.  I learned the basics during my lessons.  I am willing to go again, but next time I will invest in either butt pads or a pillow stuffed in my pants.

Ryan and I spent a few days in Park City.  This was also where we spent New Years Eve.  Park City, location of the upcoming Sundance Film Festival is a super cute, small town feel area.  I was good and actually remembered my camera.

In the pictures, you can see the small amount of snow.  I have never been there before, but everyone was saying it was the lowest snow amounts in years.  I guess Ryan and I will just have to go back.

Ryan made reservations at The Canyons for New Years Eve dinner.  He planned the reservation perfectly so we were there for their big New Years fireworks show.  After dinner we went to downtown Park City and enjoyed a Gold Masquerade Ball event.

Awww, New Years Eve Kiss.

Utah was a perfect getaway.  It was so nice to spend time with Ryan before he left the States.  I still have a few more weeks left.  Hopefully, I will be better and post more frequently.  I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful start to 2012 and best wishes for an amazing year.

*Ryan's brother, Michael came to Utah on New Years Day.  I will do my best to get Ryan to post a blog about their adventures.  If not, I will post pictures in the near future.
